I have been reunited with my love, my, err my dad’s old Vivitar. Unfortunately it has been sitting in it’s case for over a year. Poor guy has been pushed to the side and forgotten. This semester I’m taking one last traditional photography class before I graduate. Our first assignment was to shoot a roll of film to develop in class tomorrow. I got my camera out and loaded the film. I wound the film and snapped the first picture, life was complete again.

I absolutely love this camera. It’s the camera I started with back in high school when my dad first taught me about exposure. I love the way it feels in my hand. I love the sound it makes when the picture is taken. I had almost forgotten all of that. It’s such an old clunker from the 70′s which is completely manual. It’s a return to the basics. I can’t set it to auto focus if I get lazy. I can’t just look at the back of the camera to see if I made the right exposure. I won’t know for sure if I got a good picture until I develop the film and make a print. It’s a long process but the end result is totally worth it.
